Julien Jacques LECLERC (1887-1972) "Nude with Black Lace" Pastel. Art Deco Period. Dimensions: pastel 62.5 x 87 cm, frame 69 x 93 cm. Born in Le Mans on February 10, 1885, and died in Villemoison on October 18, 1972. His real name was Julien Alphonse Leclerc. He was a French draftsman and painter. He studied at the École des Arts Décoratifs in Paris. From 1918 onwards, he worked regularly with newspapers and magazines: La Vie Parisienne, La Baïonnette, Le Sourire, Paris Plaisirs, Bagatelle, Fantasio, Le Rire, L'Esprit de Paris, L'Illustration, etc. He exhibited regularly at the Salon des Artistes Français (paintings, pastels) and also at the Salon des Humoristes from 1920 to 1935 (humorous drawings). He also illustrated numerous popular publications (Fama collection, La Parisienne, La Belle Aventure, Bibliothèque d'Eve, Tallandier, Baudinière, Hachette, etc.) and creates superb illustrations and covers for erotic and spy novels. His association with Roger Dermée allows him to showcase his talent across dozens of editions. He signs his work Julien Jacques Leclerc, Jacques Leclerc, Jacques, JL, or JIHEL.
