A very beautiful and rare medal from the Universal Exposition – Olympic Games – Paris – 1900.

56.33 g.
Hallmarked "Silver" and cornucopia on the edge.

Engraved by Frédéric Charles Victor de Vernon (1858-1912).

Obverse: Allegory of Victory, draped, winged, and laurel-crowned, flies over Paris holding laurel branches.
Reverse: Athlete holding a laurel branch, standing in a stadium. In the background, the Acropolis of Athens.

The second edition of the modern Olympic Games took place in Paris in 1900 as part of the Universal Exposition.
The various organizing committees were authorized to use this medal as a prize at their own expense.

The silver version is rare.
