Louis XIV style walnut writing desk, early 18th century. Origin: Périgord. Solid walnut top mounted on four baluster legs connected by a stretcher with a small cyma molding at the corners. This cyma molding is repeated on the sides of the apron and the top. Large drawer in the front with fir drawer bottoms. Lock missing. Drawer handle with a wooden knob. The top is made of two walnut planks split open in a butterfly shape. The four corners are rounded and shaped. Beautiful cyma molding lightens the top. Attractive walnut, quite light for the period. The table is entirely pegged. Good overall condition. Some signs of wear on the top. Minor restorations. Height: 72.5 cm, Length: 94.3 cm, Width: 61.8 cm, Height under apron: 60 cm
