Very pretty oil on panel measuring 46cm x 56cm plus frame 60cm x 69cm, signed lower right Noël Canepa. Painted with a palette knife in light tones. This artist, born in 1885 in Bastia, was a professional painter and musician. The youngest of 15 children, he was wounded in the First World War by a bullet that pierced his chest. He lived in Marseille, first on Rue Sainte, then on the Corniche. Specializing in seascapes and flowers, he painted under the influence of Monticelli, his spiritual mentor. Becoming increasingly blind, he committed suicide at the age of 80 in 1965. He lived from his painting. Free shipping within the European Union. €250 for international shipping.
