A large, impressive pair of 19th-century French bisque porcelain figures depicting a Spanish dancer and partner in elegant theatrical costume.
These finely modelled figures were produced by Vion & Baury of Choisy-le-Roi, one of the most respected French porcelain manufacturers of the 19th century, renowned for their high-quality biscuit figures with expressive movement and delicate painted detail.
Both figures stand approximately 45 cm (17¾ in) tall and display excellent modelling in the posture, facial expression, and costume, with soft pastel tones and subtle gilt accents.
Condition: Very good. Remarkably, all fingers and delicate extremities are intact — a minor miracle for figures of this size and fragility. There is a small chip to the lower corner of his waistcoat (see close-up photo), which does not detract from the overall presence or display quality of the pair.
Height: 45 cm
Origin: France (Choisy-le-Roi)
Date: 19th century
