"Jean-paul Azaïs - Terra Sigillata"
Covered terra sigillata pot by Jean-Paul Azaïs. Jean-Paul Azaïs is a French ceramicist based in Northern Catalonia. He is self-taught, having begun his training in 1971 while studying biology, geology, and pharmacy, before becoming a professional in 1979. His work, deeply connected to nature and his Catalan roots, focuses on terra sigillata and natural clay glazes, which he creates using levigation techniques and wood-fired kilns, producing surfaces rich in nuances of ochre, smoke, and color. He is recognized as one of the contemporary pioneers of terra sigillata in France, has exhibited in galleries and museums for over forty years, and recounted his research and approach in his book, *Un chemin de terre et de fumée* (A Path of Earth and Smoke).
