"Owen Watson - Ceramic Vase"
Glazed stoneware vase by Owen Watson. Wood-fired kiln, Mesland pottery, 1970s. Owen Watson was an English potter who settled in the Loire Valley, France, where he led a simple rural life. A university graduate, he lived on a small farm and alternated between agricultural tasks and working the land. His work was based on wood firing, carried out once a month, which allowed the ash to form natural glazes. He also used glazes made from wood ash, sometimes enriched with lavender or cobalt. His work, inspired by Eastern traditions, has influenced many potters.
