Watch Movement From The First Half Of The 18th Century, Signed (bigand A Paris,) Around 1730.
A very fine 18th-century watch movement by Bigand in Paris, dating from the Louis XV period.
The enamel dial has raised bosses and Roman numerals for the hours and Arabic numerals for the minutes. The hands are gold.
The superb movement is crafted from gilt brass and features a verge escapement, chain, fusee, and a magnificent silver rooster decorated with birds and flowers.
It is in working order.
(It likely came from a beautiful gold watch that was melted down long ago.)
I am available for any further information or additional photos.
