Flemish School, Interior With A Woman Ironing

The painting draws on the composition of Jean Steen,
a famous 17th-century Dutch painter known for his lively and often humorous genre scenes. These works are commonly titled "Interior with Woman Ironing" or a similar title that describes the domestic scene depicted.
Unlike the large-scale historical or religious paintings that dominated elsewhere, Dutch artists focused on subjects drawn from everyday life: domestic interiors, crowded taverns, markets, popular festivals, or moments of tranquility.

Often, these scenes were not simply a reproduction of reality. Many works, particularly those of Jean Steen, concealed moral or didactic meanings, warning the public about the risks of inappropriate behavior. Here, for example, we see a curious maid spying on the situation, unseen by the protagonists of the scene.

Condition: In good overall condition, as shown in the images.
Provenance: From a private Italian collection. The first evidence of provenance of the paintings in question comes from a museum in Lima, Peru.
