"18th Century Marquetry Slant-front Desk"
A Louis XV slant-front desk, entirely inlaid with marquetry of violet wood, plum, tobacco, rosewood, and stained wood. It has a curved shape on all sides and opens to reveal three drawers. The back of the desk is inlaid with plum wood. It retains its original gilt bronze mounts, notably the feet that completely protect the legs from impacts. Finished with traditional French polish. An uncommon piece of provincial furniture from the Montbéliard region, in the style of the renowned cabinetmaker Abraham Couleru. 18th century
