Exquisite Danish bookcase in teak and teak veneer, dating from the 1950s/60s. Designed by Danish designer Børge Møgensen and distributed by Soblor Mobler. Børge Møgensen was a Danish designer born in 1914 in Aalborg, Denmark. He studied furniture design in Copenhagen. In the 1940s, he became head of design at the Danish Consumer Cooperative Society (FDB). In the 1950s, he opened his own design studio and subsequently became one of the designers who popularized the concept of modern Danish design. His work is clean and extremely functional. He strives to create practical, affordable designs in his preferred material: wood. His clients include Fredericia Stolefabrik, Fritz Hansen, Søborg Møbelfabrik, and many others. In 1950, he won the Eckersberg Medal, followed by the Copenhagen Carpentry Guild's annual prize in 1953, and the CF Hansen Medal in 1972. He died in 1972 in Denmark. This bookcase opens with two sliding glass doors on the front. The base is made of solid teak. It features three adjustable shelves. The piece is in good overall condition and of high quality. Note a slight stain on one shelf and a few minor, barely visible imperfections (see photos).
