Cameo portrait of a notable figure, signed Matabon. Extract from Bénézit: Charles Matabon (1834-1887): sculptor, born in Lyon, died in May 1887 in Paris (French School). Student of Duret, Bontour, and Caillouette. Exhibited at the Salon from 1864. The Musée d'Orsay holds a marble head by him, purchased after a commission from the State in 1878.
