"Louis XV Period Corner Cabinet - Stamped Macret"
A Louis XV period corner cabinet, 18th century, stamped "MACRET." Pierre MACRET (1727-1806), a renowned Parisian cabinetmaker during the reign of Louis XV, received a royal warrant from Latz as a privileged cabinetmaker to the King ("royally privileged cabinetmaker to the court"). This corner cabinet features a double-curved marquetry in the "à la reine" style, creating optical illusions by simulating three-dimensional motifs in rosewood. The door frames are rosewood, while the rounded uprights and lower rail are mahogany. All the bronze mounts are original and finely chased. The three front feet are adorned with bronze. The marble top is "Breccia d'Alep" from the Bouches-du-Rhône region. It retains its original lock and has been French polished by our workshop.
