Silver Filigra Headbed With Small Painting Of Saint Rosalia
An important headboard crafted entirely from silver filigree, dating from the late 17th to early 18th century. The elegant composition of the silver filigree features plant and floral motifs, with precise and detailed workmanship that highlights the mastery of Sicilian silversmiths. Inside, enclosed in an oval, is a small oil painting on canvas glued to a rigid support, depicting Saint Rosalia, from the school of Pietro Paolo Vasta, surrounded by micro-beads of red coral from Trapani. This highly antique piece still has its original patina, and perhaps some small retouching may have been done to the oil painting. Overall, it is in excellent condition, and is a rare and valuable antique.
