Pair Of Large Louis XIII/louis XIV Style Armchairs In Sheep's Bone, With High, Flat Backs
A beautiful pair of Louis XIII style walnut armchairs with high backs. Each armchair rests on four "sheep's bone" legs, connected by an H-shaped stretcher, also made of sheep's bone, as is the upper rail connecting the two front legs. Each back is steeply inclined, providing great seating comfort. The armrests are upholstered with fully padded sleeves and rest on bracket supports. The seats have been reupholstered, and the webbing is recent (see photo). The upholstery is done with petit point tapestry in good condition; note that a small stain is visible on the front of the seat of one of the armchairs. Beautiful antique brass nailhead trim. Some minor repairs have been made to the ends of the legs (see photo). Note a slight chip on one of the stretcher's crossbars at the central return of the scroll (see photo). Very beautiful armchairs made in the 19th century in a pure 17th style, model in "sheep bone" Dimensions: back height 110 cm seat height 44 cm width 64 cm total depth 76 cm seat depth 54 cm Shipping costs please contact us.
