Clovis Masson was a French animal sculptor. He was a student of the French sculptor Antoine-Louis Barye. He specialized in animal representation, most often using plaster, wax, or bronze. From 1867 to 1881, he exhibited regularly at the Paris Salon. He produced more than fifty works up to 1909. This is a very fine Susse cast with a black patina in perfect condition. Signed on the base: C Masson and Susse, foundryman in Paris.
