Solid Silver Chain For A Pocket Or Pocket Watch With A Palm Link And A Sliding Curb Link.
- A solid silver pocket watch chain with a quadruple palm link, ending in two soldered balls at each end. It features two rectangular octagonal slides, each set with two porcelain plaques on each side, decorated with hand-painted flowers and foliage on a black background. These slides move along the four palm links. - Two oval curb chain ends are present after the two soldered balls attached to the palm chain. - One end of the curb chain has a rectangular octagonal pendant charm, set with two porcelain plaques on each side, decorated with hand-painted flowers and foliage on a black background. The charm has an "S" on it, from which hangs the watch strap attachment, which is chased and guillochéd and also serves as the watch key for the pocket watch. The other end of the curb chain terminates in the pocket watch clasp. - Pocket watch clasp spring in good condition and working order. French hallmark (boar's head) 800/1000 used in France from 1838 to 1962, present on the left side of the pocket watch clasp, on the ring soldered to the ball, and on the ring soldered to the charm. - Goldsmith's hallmark in a lozenge shape, to be identified, present on the round ring after the ring soldered to the charm, with the letters Ve. B and an animal below the letters inside the hallmark. - Period: late 19th century, circa 1880-1890. - Gross weight: 42.85 g.
