François BOUCHER (1703-1770) "Nereids and Tritons" Pen and ink, brown wash and bistre wash on paper prepared with sanguine wash. Laid down on its original 18th-century mount. Bears a signature in black ink lower left: "F. Boucher F." 0.220 x 0.357 Preparatory drawing for the reverse wash engraving by the Abbé de Saint-Non, print held at the Musée du Louvre, Rothschild Collection, Inv. 1579, reproduced and dated 1766. (see photos in appendix) The attribution to the artist is confirmed by the François Boucher specialist.
