Eugène Lanceray was a Russian sculptor of French origin (his grandfather, Paul Lanceray, a major in Napoleon I's army, remained in Russia), renowned for his animal sculptures, particularly those of horses and their relationship with humans.
He was a major Russian sculptor who produced numerous works during his short career, always with a striking realism.
