. A very fine and rare service of 66 table knives, presented in its original case, lined with quilted fabric.
The set comprises three distinct, harmoniously matched series, all with finely polished natural mother-of-pearl handles, adorned with an engraved monogram within an elegant Louis XVI-style cartouche.
Detailed composition: 18 knives with silver blades, hallmarked with the Minerva mark, second standard (800/1000 silver);
18 knives with stainless steel blades, slightly larger than the silver knives;
30 large stainless steel knives, intended for the main table service.
The silver knives bear the hallmark of the master silversmith Guerre, active in Paris, a firm renowned for the quality of its cutlery and silverware in the 19th century.
The ferrules and rings are made of silver, decorated with gadroons and stylized shells, providing an elegant and harmonious finish to the entire set.
Condition: Very good overall condition for an antique set. Light signs of use and normal micro-scratches on the blades. Mother-of-pearl well preserved, without any noticeable chips. Antique box shows wear consistent with its age. A rare set due to its number, the variety of sizes, and the presence of silver-bladed knives, ideal for a large table setting, a silversmith, or a collector of antique services.
Length of silver knives: 30 cm;
length of medium knives: 31 cm;
length of large knives: 34.5 cm.
