Walnut Desk, Louis-philippe Style – Early 20th Century
This Louis-Philippe style walnut flat desk dates from the early 20th century. It is captivating in its understated elegance and its balance between simplicity and refinement. The top, with its crow's beak edge, is covered in green leather. A gilt vignette runs along the edges of the leather, and a delicately stamped gilt motif in the center adds a touch of distinction. The apron of the desk houses two spacious drawers, each with its own key, allowing for the secure storage of documents or personal belongings. The drawer fronts are molded and simple, emphasizing the purity of the lines typical of the Louis-Philippe style. The base is particularly well-crafted: the turned legs are adorned with fluting that terminates in toupie (spinning tops). This piece of furniture possesses a classic allure, combining functionality and aesthetics, while demonstrating the artisanal skill of the period.********Period: Early 20th Century.
