The 12-point Stag By Alfred Dubucand
Artist: Alfred Dubucand
A very beautiful 12-point stag with a majestic bearing. Bronze in very good condition, signed on the base. Dimensions: Height: 15 cm Length: Width: Albert Dubucand, Sculptor of Hunting Scenes. Born in Paris on November 25, 1828, Alfred Dubucand began his career relatively late, after studying under the great animal sculptor Antoine-Louis Barye (1795-1875). At the Salon of 1867, he was 39 years old. Alfred Dubucand's work revolves around small bronzes on the theme of hunting, and also includes Orientalist groups. Less well-known than Antoine-Louis Barye, Pierre-Jules Mène, or Emmanuel Frémiet, his attention to detail and his ability to capture suspended movement, the finesse and elegance of his chiseling, place him among the most talented animal sculptors.
