Small Jewelry Box - Mid-19th Century (circa 1860-1870)
An elegant small jewelry or "small objects" box from the mid-19th century. This quality box is made of veneer with rich Boulle-style marquetry on the lid. The central medallion features delicate brass and mother-of-pearl flower inlays, highlighted by light wood stringing and blackened wood borders. The piece retains its original "Lacroix" label, attesting to its provenance from a luxury stationery and tablet shop of the period. Original interior with a brass lock typical of the Second Empire. Dimensions: Small size, ideal for a display case or desk (jewelry box type). Key missing but can be easily found. Good condition, "as found," with an authentic patina and some scratches and cracks in the varnish.
