Circa 1930-1940, France. Elegant evening pyjama tuxedo, labeled Galeries Lafayette and made of rayon in artificial silk based on a design by Raoul Dufy dating from the 1930s-40s. It features the famous "Monnaies du Pape" (Pope's Money) design by Raoul Dufy, woven by Bianchini-Ferrier, a renowned manufacturer in Lyon. This particular design is in a rayon lampas in pastel shades of orange, soft green, and blue-gray on a chimney-sweeper brown background. The loose-fitting jacket has a shawl collar in black satin, echoing the three pockets and the cuffs. It has a matching belt loop. The high-waisted trousers have a button fly and drawstring waist, finished with a black silk tassel (one tassel is missing). A gold label indicates Galeries Lafayette Paris. Unlined.
