Ebony and red tortoiseshell travel cabinet with inlaid stringing and marquetry. Architecturally designed, with a central door featuring a half-column and a broken pediment. It opens to reveal eight drawers, giving the appearance of nine. The front is framed in guilloché ebony with bone and ebony stringing. The top displays a geometric design of ebony and rosewood veneer (slight warping of the top). The sides are decorated with bone stringing. The central door reveals eight small drawers, giving the appearance of six. Embossed brass decoration and period keyhole escutcheons. Period locks. The cabinet is in very good original condition.
