"Pair Of Louis XVI Style Gilt Bronze Wall Sconces, Model By Jean Louis Prieur "
Important pair of Louis XVI period wall sconces, two lights in chased and mercury-gilded bronze. The shaft is decorated with fluting, rudenting, and asparagus tips. The bobeches have cups with twisted fluting, garlands, and laurels, and are surmounted by an urn. The fire pot is not pierced for electricity. Model by Jean Louis Prieur. Similar models are in the Louvre Museum of Decorative Arts in Lyon and the Royal Palace of Stockholm. A very fine model in terms of finish and chasing.
