"Women in rural Maghreb societies, both potters and weavers, are the custodians of a culture and know-how passed down from generation to generation, but which is now tending to be lost due to rural exodus and economic development. The geometric motifs that adorn the pottery—which are also found on textiles and women's tattoos—carry symbolic meanings whose origins date back to the Neolithic period. The purity of the forms, the simplicity and spontaneity of the decoration give these objects a particular charm. They bear witness to a remarkable harmony between function, form, and decoration. Excerpt from the book published on the occasion of the eponymous exhibition "Ideqqi: Art of Berber Women" at the Musée du Quai Branly."
