A bronze fireplace mantel with a brown-gold patina, composed of two posts each supporting a Medici lion (also known as a Venetian lion). The finely chased gilt bronze ornamentation features arabesques, vegetal scrolls, and scrolling florets. The lions hold a chain connecting them in their mouths. Dating from the First Empire period, 19th century. This mantel mantel is in good overall condition and is of exceptional quality, highly decorative. Note: one gilt bronze decoration is detached and will need to be reattached (one bolt is missing, see red arrows). There are minor dents, soiling, scratches, and signs of wear consistent with age on the bronze and gilding. Please examine the photos carefully.
