We present this large, framed Expressionist oil on canvas by the renowned painter Edouard Goerg, born in Sydney, Australia on June 9, 1890, and who died in Gallian, Var (83) on April 13, 1969. The work is titled "The Solitary Dinner," painted in 1962. A certificate written by the artist in 1967 is included. While the painting was indeed painted in 1962, it should be noted that the artist claims it was painted in 1962, but the back of the canvas is marked "The Solitary Dinner 1958." Is this a confusion on the artist's part regarding the dates, or simply a recollection of a dinner in 1958 that he then painted in 1962? In any case, this painting is superb. Shipping extra (€26).
