Gendarmerie Foot Regiment Officer (Full and Undress Dress) Color lithograph plate, part of the very rare set of 55 plates not offered for sale, published by Lemercier in Paris in 1858. This is a first-rate document for describing the uniforms of the Imperial Guard of the French Army in the second half of the reign of Napoleon III. It was produced under the direction of Major General Antoine-Charles-Félix Hecquet (1787-1872) according to the orders of Marshal Pétain, Minister of War. This lithograph, from the collection of Dr. Hutin in Épinal, bears the reference plate no. 52.
