Large Basket Chandelier In Gilt Bronze And Crystal, Mid-19th Century

An important gilt bronze basket chandelier, cast using the lost-wax technique, richly adorned with cut crystals. It features 24 lights arranged on two levels, suspended from arms shaped like stylized cornucopias in gilt bronze, embellished with crystal drops. The structure is accentuated by two gilt bronze bands decorated with floral motifs and theatrical masks, inspired by Neoclassical and Pompeian styles, linked by chains of cut crystals. The upper section is adorned with an elegant vegetal motif in gilt bronze. A few small drops are missing, but this does not detract from the overall aesthetic. The chandelier is in good condition, elegant and decorative, ideal for a characterful interior.
