Art Deco Vase - Ingrid With The Bacchantes - Attributed To Heinrich Hoffmann (20th Century)
Art Deco vase "Ingrid with Bacchantes" attributed to Heinrich Hoffmann – Gablonz, circa 1930. Clear molded glass vase, decorated in high relief with a frieze of dancing female bacchantes, in the mythological style characteristic of Bohemian Art Deco. This model, known as Ingrid or Ingrid with Bacchantes, is attributed to the sculptor and glass designer Heinrich Hoffmann (1875–1938). It is part of the production of the Gablonz glassworks (Jablonec nad Nisou), an important center of glassmaking in Czechoslovakia during the interwar period. These models were distributed by various local publishers, notably those associated with Curt Schlevogt, often without a signature. The continuous relief decoration, the quality of the modeling, and the proportions correspond to examples documented in the specialized literature on European Art Deco glass. Czechoslovakian Art Deco work, circa 1925–1935. Model listed in works devoted to Bohemian Art Deco glass, notably in Le génie verrier de l'Europe (G. Cappa). Visible at the Galerie Courcelles Antiquités, 41 rue des Acacias, in the 17th arrondissement of Paris.
