Samurai Half Mask Mempo - Shōwa Era (1926-1989).
JAPAN - Shōwa Era (1926-1989). Samurai half-mask known as a "Mempo," made of stamped metal with a glossy black lacquer finish. Features a pronounced chin, movable nose, visible teeth, a red-rimmed upper lip, a white horsehair mustache, pierced nostrils, and a sweat hole under the chin. The interior is lacquered reddish-brown. The four-tiered "Yodare-kake" gorget is made of glossy black lacquered metal and blue, white, and orange silk, with a black lacquered reverse. Dimensions: 28 x 21 x 12 cm. Dimensions with stand: 40 x 21 x 16.5 cm.
