Baroque Walnut Wardrobe, Switzerland, Circa 1800
A large, two-door wardrobe in walnut veneer over spruce, with chamfered corners and sturdy square feet. The flat, multi-profile cornice emphasizes the architectural simplicity characteristic of this period. The front is adorned with large oval brass escutcheons. Inside, the wardrobe is conveniently divided: shelves on the left, a clothes rail and hat rack on the right. Expertly restored and hand-polished, this piece reveals all the natural warmth and depth of its walnut veneer.
