Turquoise Silk Woven Stole With Blue Stripes - Tunisia, Circa 1950
Circa 1950-1960, Tunisia. Long silk scarf or draping belt woven in a herringbone pattern of turquoise, blue, and white checks, originating from southern Tunisia. Traditional handloom weaving with a double twill weave forms small herringbone patterns often found in traditional textiles. The turquoise background is crossed by blue stripes outlined in white. Long, two-tone silk fringes at both ends. Note a diffuse discoloration on only one side. No holes or stains; excellent color and condition. Dimensions: 375 cm x 40 cm
