This drawing, probably from the mid 19th century, depicts an allegory personified by a charming young woman crowned with a laurel wreath.
Represented in profile, half-length, the model is ideally rendered, her gaze lost in the distance. Her noble features – her aquiline nose, full lips, and defined eyebrows – are finely sketched. The interplay of light and shadow lends modeling and relief to the details of the face as well as to the background of the composition.
