Etretat Charles Sauvageot

Graphite drawing on paper representing the beach of Étretat on September 18, 1848. The boats transformed into a dwelling with a thatched roof and the winches represented are found in contemporary paintings by Eugène le Poittevin. The drawing was part of the collection of Charles Sauvageot (1781-1860), better known as a collector of medieval objects and Curator of the Louvre. The drawing is located and dated lower left and framed in a pitch pine frame. The single sheet measures 25x35 cm.
