The polychrome decoration, of great finesse, is characteristic of Japanese production from the late 19th to early 20th century, with a contrasting dark background and stylized figures surrounded by symbolic motifs. The set exhibits a high quality of execution and a very decorative effect. The pieces bear a mark on the reverse (visible in photos), attesting to their Japanese origin.
