Magnificent set comprising a ewer and its washbasin, all in solid silver. Origin: France. Hallmarked with the First Rooster mark (1798-1809), guarantee mark, and maker's mark of Pierre-Jacques Meurice (registered in 1806) on the basin. The ewer and its oval-shaped washbasin are made of silver. The ovoid body is chased with two registers of lanceolate leaves alternating with flowers and a foliate frieze. This motif is repeated on the inside of the basin. The handle is adorned with a mascaron in the round. The spout is decorated with a fantastical animal head and engraved with a monogram of intertwined letters. Total weight: 1523 grams. Height: 33 cm. Length of basin: 33.7 cm. Width of basin: 22.5 cm.
