Marquetry Box, 17th Century
A rare Louis XIV marquetry box in walnut, boxwood, and charred wood, decorated with foliage and acanthus leaves. The top is slightly domed. Made in the Toulouse region, perhaps by the renowned cabinetmaker Noël Hache, who settled there in the 17th century; his son Thomas later moved to Grenoble. Minor restorations consistent with age, finished with traditional French polish. 17th century.
