AMAZONE SLIP-ON STIRRUP
France, 18th century
Iron, fabric and leather
H: 12; L: 22 cm
(old losses)
Slip-on stirrup with a leather-covered iron sole and a hemmed heel, giving it its name ‘slip-on’.
The footwear is made of woven plant fibres and covered with leather, as are the iron branches used to attach the stirrup strap, which were covered with leather to protect the ankle.
