Pair Of Gilt Porcelain Vases. Darte Frères Paris, Empire Period.
Pair of gold-ground porcelain vases. France, signed “ Darte Frères , Paris”, Empire period, early 19th century.
Elegant pair of ornamental vases in enameled and hand-painted porcelain, featuring refined mythological and pastoral scenes in a neoclassical style, inspired by the 18th-century gallant iconography. The scenes, executed with meticulous technique and transparent colors, depict couples of lovers in woodland settings, rendered with great finesse and luminous pictorial quality.
The slender shape of the vases is inspired by classical Greek forms, with side scroll handles adorned with ram's heads. The bases, unusually decorated in faux red porphyry, add further prestige to the ensemble.
The bottom of the vases bears the signature of the “ Darte Frères Paris” manufactory, a prestigious production center renowned for the quality of its artistic porcelain, highly appreciated throughout 19th-century Europe.
