Oil on canvas, likely depicting the goddess Sothis (the Greek name for the Egyptian goddess Sopdet). She is a deity of ancient Egyptian religion and the deification of Sirius (which can be seen shining above her), the brightest star in the sky, and symbolizes the arrival of the Nile flood. Florentine School, first half of the 17th century. Period stretcher, canvas, and frame. A large, illegible collector's stamp on the back. 98 x 86 cm with its frame. The painting has been cleaned.
