Fine Gouache On Brown Paper, Framed: Landscape With A Path Between Birch Trees And Figures
Artist: Non Signée
This charming and delicate little painting, in its original gilt-leaf molded frame, depicts a landscape of a path winding between two groves of birch trees towards a walled enclosure where peasants tend a flock of sheep. In the distance, the foliage of trees rises in a sloping landscape. This lovely pastoral scene, finely painted with a reverence for light in delicate tones, is an inspired work from the 19th century. A very successful gouache on brown paper, beautifully presented with its cream mat, this lovely painting comes from a small château in the Quercy region and is representative of the landscapes of the Causse; a work of subtle quality and well preserved.
