Isabelle Perigot (1945-2013)
Artist: Isabelle Perigot
Cut and blown glass vase from the "Harlequin" series, featuring a multicolored murrine pattern, a unique piece, dated 2011 and signed.
Isabelle Périgot is dedicated to reinterpreting Murano murrine, an emblematic craft. A rare French artist, and especially a rare woman in this field, she challenges tradition by freeing herself from technical constraints to grant herself greater freedom in form and decoration.
The term murrine, in Italian, refers to multicolored glass rods, bearing a pattern inside, created and fused together while hot, then cut transversely into small sections. After blowing, the pieces reveal a sophisticated geometric patchwork, highlighted by subtly arranged colors and an extremely tactile material. Fine and precise cutting work on the surface of the pieces occasionally adds rhythm to the composition, giving relief and substance to the material.
