Born in Bergamo, Fausto Antonioli began his studies at the Carrara Academy and continued them at the Venice Academy of Fine Arts. A portrait and landscape painter, he was also passionate about still lifes. His extensive travels to Rome and Florence allowed him to fulfill numerous commissions, including views of the cities' main monuments and perspective drawings. He experimented with photography thanks to his friend Augusto Gabriele Agricola. This experience enabled him to use photography as a source of inspiration.
