Large Louis XV Style Pediment Mirror, Napoleon III Period, Wooden And Gilded Stucco Mirror

A very beautiful mirror in stucco and gilded wood to hang above a fireplace or piece of furniture. The four sides are adorned with a beautiful molding depicting a frieze of finely decorated and chiseled drapery, with small flowers in between. Each of the four corners is embellished with a raised section composed of a shell, two acanthus leaves, and small flowers. Our mirror is topped with an openwork pediment featuring a central cartouche surrounded by acanthus leaves and flowering stems. A fine piece from the late Napoleon III period, this lovely mirror has retained a beautiful antique gold patina. The glass is original and in very good condition, with only a slight, barely visible oxidation over a three- or four-centimeter area. Note a few small losses of stucco, the most significant being on the tip of the shell at the bottom left (see last photo with the red arrow), and some minute cracks, all perfectly normal given its age.
