French Empire Mirror, Lacquered And Gilt, With Pastiglia Decoration, Early 19th Century
Refined French Empire mirror, dating from the early 19th century, finished in a light beige-ivory lacquer with subtle greenish tones, enhanced with areas of water-gilding.The rectangular frame is richly decorated with neoclassical pastiglia ornaments — rosettes, stylised vegetal motifs and cornucopias — carefully arranged along the sides and centred on the horizontal rails. The inner moulding framing the mirror is also executed in gilt pastiglia, adding depth and elegance to the composition.Originally intended for horizontal display, the mirror can also be hung vertically, maintaining an excellent decorative impact in both orientations thanks to the symmetry and richness of its ornamentation. The mirror plate is original mercury glass, showing signs of wear and oxidation consistent with age, which contribute to its historic charm and atmospheric quality. Overall, the piece is authentic, well-proportioned and full of character, suitable for both classic interiors and as a striking contrast in more contemporary settings.Dimensions:Width 113 cm – Height 64 cmCondition:Good overall condition, with normal signs of age, minor cracking to the pastiglia and age-related alterations to the mirror plate. For further information, photographs or technical details, please do not hesitate to contact us.
