Pair Of 19th Century Shield-shaped Mirrors.
Artist: Italien
A pair of shield-shaped mirrors in carved wood, gilded with gold leaf and highlighted in ivory. The base is decorated within a cartouche with a charming bacchanalian scene in gilded stucco, beneath which are carved acanthus leaves in the shape of crossbows. The upper rail is decorated with alternating interlacing rosettes and acanthus leaves, also gilded with gold leaf. At the ends, pilasters support a projecting molding that serves as a cornice, above which rests a pediment carved with scrolls centered by a gilded shell. The mirrors have some stains.
