Pair Of Silver-plated Metal Ewers, Napoleon III Period - 19th Century
An important pair of decorative silver-plated ewers, resting on red veined marble bases, dating from the 19th century. Each ewer has a baluster-shaped body richly decorated with relief motifs of vegetal and classical inspiration. The finely sculpted, flowing handles undulate into elegant volutes and terminate in decorative scrolls. The stylized, sinuous spouts emphasize the ornamental character of these pieces, designed more as ceremonial objects than for utilitarian use. A beautiful patina, with slight wear and oxidation consistent with age, without detracting from the clarity of the decoration. Height: 45 cm
